Laughter is an antidote to Stress. Laugh and grow is a
popular saying that encourages people to always be on the sunny side of life by
making it a habit or lifestyle to always laugh. This is because laughter will
make those who are in the habit of laughing to grow fat. This kind of remedy
will be particularly good for those who are extremely slim (lean).
When we look around us in the society as far as fashion
trend following or consciousness is concerned, then it will not be wrong to say
that humans are always making God who is high up there in the heavens and sees
everything to be laughing all the time.
As the Creator, He is the one who created laughter and
gave to man as an antidote to stress and fatigue. So He must know how to laugh
too. And like I said earlier, humans must have been causing Him to laugh all
the time as He looks down at them.
Today, I want us to look at something that the society
trivializes but may not be seen as such by God who is an all knowing and all
seeing God. I want us to look at the many shades of colours of hairs that we
see worn by young girls and ladies all around us, all in the name of following
trending hair styles.
Several decades back to when I was a small boy, I used to
see barbers who were then using hand clippers to barb, mixed a blackish watery
substance in an enamel plate and use the black liquid with the help of a
toothbrush to paint the head of people black. And on inquiring to know what was
going on then, I was told that the barber was dyeing the hair of those people
so that their gray hairs will disappear and all the hairs on those people’s
heads will become completely black.
What I am trying to say here is that people who had gray
hairs back then were not proud of being seen with such hairs. So they dyed them
black. However, we know that there are about four basic types of hair colour
that are natural as God the Creator had intended them to be. These are black,
blonde, brunette and redheads.
I am aware as I grew up that those who were by birth born
with the other colours of hair other than the black colour most times dyed
those hairs into black. Very few people back then were comfortable to display
with pride the other colours of hair which they were born with. But what do we
see these days?
Causes of Laugh, Why Do People Laugh and
Does Laugh Really Manage Stress
There seems to be a feverish quest for the rainbow
display of hair colours all around us. Most women and young girls appear not to
be comfortable again with the colour of their natural hair, as such, they spray
their hair into gold colour, blonde colour, red colour, pink colour and what
have you.
I carried three young girls in my keke and the three of
them were wearing hair with three different colours. One had green attachment
used to plait her hair, the other had yellow colour attachment used while the
third had a mixture of silvery and purple attachments. Most of these young
girls and women also use blue, red, orange, oxblood, dark gold and every other
available colours of attachment to plait their hairs.
A greater segment of the society have totally
accepted these various shades of colours of attachments used by these women and
girls to adorn themselves and so they do not give a damn to how some people may
see them, especially when they see that even the various churches permit them
into fellowship service with those diverse colours of hair. It appears God made
a gross mistake to have created them with the original colour of hair they were
born with. So they seem to be in a frenzy to tell Him the colours they would
had rather preferred on their heads.
Most times, when these people appear with these various
colours of hair, you the on-looker may become embarrassed looking at them but
they don’t just mind how the appear to others so long as they feel they are
expressing their so-called freedom and free-will to do as they like with
themselves. But the question is, “Are they really free to do as they like?” The
naked truth is that they are not because God owns them hook, line and sinker
and demands full accountability and responsibility from each and every one of
them.
During Joseph’s days, it was the era of coat of many
colours. So maybe in our days, this is the era of hairs of many colours. Go to
any place with a large crowd of people, then you will better understand what I
mean by saying that it is as if we are in the era of hairs of many colours. You
are bound to see a sea of heads of women with diverse colours of hair.
So if I may ask, “What are some people really turning the
society into with this craze for untoward fashion trends? What kind of dressing
legacies are we bequeathing to the in-coming generations after us? Do we even
find time to spare a little thought about all these crazy stuffs we do or get
involved in? Do we even care about what the future holds in stock for us
concerning the way we are dressing in the now? We do all kinds of illegitimate
things and sometimes we put them out there about us in the various social media
platforms now and feel that they won’t hurt us now. But we may not stop to
think that they may rear their heads later on in the near future to hurt us
directly, hurt our career quest or aspirations. It may not occur to us to think
that some things are permissible to us individually but may not be acceptable
societally.
Maybe you are in a career that is very competitive and
you are marked for an appointment into a position of high responsibilities and
then out of the blues, your opponent for the same position comes up with past
photographs that shows you as not being responsible and decent enough to occupy
the available position. Alas! You will be so shocked and sometimes so
embarrassed to realize that your past choice of fashion trend following has
suddenly come up as a dreaded ghost to haunt you in your future and may deprive
you of that position of responsibilities that should be yours.
I am fully persuaded to say just as I said at the onset of this
article that with the way we make God to be laughing all the time going by how
most young girls and women go about with their funny looking shades of hair
colours, then He must be extremely very fat. Let us be careful though not to
make Him become obese in the course of the way we go about following fashion
trends. Our young girls and women should remember that what may be permissible
most often may not be acceptable. I will conclude this article by saying that a
word is enough for the wise.
